Prayagraj: Two wanted criminals were injured and arrested following an encounter with police near Badi Nahar Pulia Road, Palwa Har village in Fatehpur district early Friday, police said.
Those arrested were identified as brothers Istiyaq alias Ishtiyaq (24) and Dilshad alias Dilsad (29), both residents of Khairai. They were carrying a cash reward of Rs 25,000 each.
The police also seized two 0.315 bore pistols along with three live and used cartridges each, Rs 1,700 cash and one bike from their possession.
Additional SP (Fatehpur) VS Mishra said: "Acting on a specific tip-off that two criminals, who were allegedly involved in a murder case, were on their way to execute another crime, a joint police team of the Intelligence wing and Khaga police intercepted a bike on Kishanpur Road. When the cops asked them to stop the bike, the duo opened fire. The police retaliated, leading to injuries to the duo."
They were admitted to the district hospital where their condition was stated to be stable.
Police said while seven criminal cases were pending against Dilshad two were pending against Ishtiyaq.
