New Delhi: As pollution levels rise in Delhi, all schools up to Class V will switch to online classes until further notice, chief minister Atishi said on Thursday. The new directive will take effect from Friday.
"Due to rising pollution levels, all primary schools in Delhi will be shifting to online classes, until further directions," Atishi, who also oversees the education portfolio, stated in a post on X.
"Heads of schools are hereby directed to ensure classes in online mode for the students of these classes till further orders," read the circular issued by the director of education.
The move has prompted schools to start preparations. "Every teacher is well acquainted with online learning platforms. WhatsApp groups with all the students and parents also make the process easier," said Sunita, principal of Ravi Shankar Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya in Bawana.
Leena Sinha, principal of a Govt girls' senior secondary school in Tughlaqabad, said they were ready for the shift. "With nearly 560 children in our primary section, we will conduct lessons via WhatsApp and video calls."
Joginder Kumar, principal of Govt Co-Ed Sarvodaya Vidyalaya in Rohini, said, "We will use different apps, PPTs and animation to teach students."
