Bengaluru: A class 6 student from a private school on Kanakapura Road, south Bengaluru, was hospitalised after a 7th standard student allegedly assaulted him on the school premises Thursday.
Expressing shock over the incident, parents of the child took the school authorities to task for their alleged apathy in taking care of the injured boy, who is currently in ICU of a private hospital. According to the parents, there was considerable delay in alerting them about the incident.
The parents shared their agony: "We are sharing the most shocking and painful incident that occurred on the school premises yesterday (Thursday) during school day practice. My son was brutally assaulted and violently beaten on the face and stomach multiple times. He was also kicked in his private parts by a class 7 student."
They said: "This boy (class 7 student) randomly picks kids to beat up, abuse or threaten them for no reason. My son was so severely beaten up that he is currently in ICU suffering unbearable pain. Not just that, no first aid was given, there was no comforting him in pain, and worst of all, he was asked to walk all by himself to the reception and left alone there. The coordinator and school authorities were very rude and didn't bother to wait for us to come and pick up our son. We were shocked by the way the school handled this. I understand each one of us deals with their problems differently, but this is not just our problem. I hear a lot of parents complaining against the same group of boys but see no action being taken..."
As the matter was discussed by other parents in a WhatsApp group, the school authorities responded: "When the incident occurred, our team acted swiftly to ensure the safety of all students and addressed the matter in alignment with our school policies. We understand this incident may have caused concern and that online discussions can sometimes amplify incomplete or exaggerated narratives, leading to misunderstandings and unnecessary tension."
No police complaint has been filed in connection with the incident so far.
