Nagpur: The Vidarbha Taxpayers Association (VTA) has called on citizens to exercise their voting rights on November 20, stressing that voting is not only a fundamental right but a duty that empowers individuals to shape the policies impacting their communities and lives.
VTA president Shrawan Kumar Malu emphasized that every eligible voter should cast their ballot. "Greater voter turnout strengthens democracy. I encourage the heads of families to make sure every family member votes, and I urge traders and industrialists to support voting efforts among their employees. A higher voter percentage would be a positive sign for our society," Malu said.
Tejinder Singh Renu, VTA secretary, advised voters to weigh limitations of NOTA (None of the Above) option. "Although the Supreme Court introduced NOTA in 2013 to allow voters to express dissatisfaction with all candidates, NOTA doesn't affect election results. No matter how many people select NOTA, the candidate with the highest vote count still wins. NOTA is a ‘Toothless tiger' which fails to improve candidate quality or increase participation, often collecting less than 1% of votes," he said.
