Bengaluru: A 43-year-old man from the Maldives was found dead in mysterious circumstances in a hotel room in RT Nagar on Wednesday.
The deceased is Hassan Suhail. As he didn't come out of the room on Wednesday or order food, the hotel staff tried to contact him. When he didn't respond, they alerted RT Nagar police who broke open the door and found him dead. The cause of his death is yet to be ascertained.
Based on preliminary investigation, police said Suhail came to Bengaluru from the Maldives on Nov 10 and stayed at Kanaka Krishna Comforts at Ganganagar in RT Nagar on Ballari Road. The staff told police that Suhail was last seen on the evening of Nov 12.
According to an officer, Suhail had booked a flight from Bengaluru to Bhopal on Nov 11, but didn't travel. He booked a flight from Bhopal to Mumbai on Nov 14 and from Mumbai to the Maldives on Nov 15. "We don't know why he didn't travel to Bhopal. We are also not sure why he came and stayed in the hotel in Ganganagar when he had the flight every next day. He had vomited in front of the bathroom. We suspect it is a cardiac arrest following low blood pressure and dehydration," he said.
"We have contacted the embassy of the Maldives and immigration officials, and are waiting for their family members to conduct the postmortem procedure and to know the purpose of his visit to India. He had earlier come to Bengaluru in Aug. The purpose of his frequent visits is yet to be ascertained," the officer added.
