Jaipur: Rajasthan State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) on Wednesday directed the police commissioner of Jaipur and the SP of Nagaur to file a case against police personnel responsible for a custodial death. The commission ordered that these personnel be removed from duty and an investigation be conducted by an officer at deputy superintendent level, which should submit before court a report on the departmental action taken. The commission also directed that the family of the deceased, Sunil Kumawat, be given financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh. These orders were issued by commission chairman Justice G R Moolchandani.
During the hearing, a judicial inquiry report was presented to the commission, revealing that a rape case was filed against Sunil Kumawat in Kuchaman City in 2021. On Jan 8, 2022, he was referred from the district hospital in Dausa to SMS Hospital in Jaipur. During this transfer, he died in the ambulance. tnn
