CHENNAI: Amid a war of words between AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami and minister Thangam Thennarasu over welfare measures for govt staff, the Tamil Nadu Secretariat Association has demanded that chief minister M K Stalin announce the govt’s policy decision on the poll promises made by DMK in the 2021 assembly election.
This demand particularly focuses on reverting to the old pension scheme, earned leave surrender, and filling vacancies in govt posts.
In a letter to chief minister, the association said employees were hugely disappointed over govt’s silence on poll promises. “The govt adopts an unannounced policy of outsourcing staff for govt jobs while four lakh vacancies remain unfilled. This practice undermines social justice and the constitutionally protected 69% reservation policy,” the association said.
It was only recently that TN Govt Employees Association said members would make Stalin the leader of opposition in 2026 if the poll promises were not fulfilled.
