Nagpur: Three minor girls from Madhya Pradesh were found working as labourers at a flyover construction site within the jurisdiction of Nandanvan police station. Following an investigation, the Nandanvan police filed a case against the contractor and supervisor under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act. The accused were identified as Prakash Wakhla and Rajesh Joshi. The complaint was lodged by Priyanka Bagde, a social worker, working with the Child Welfare Committee (CWC).
Cops said the contractor Wakhla and site supervisor Joshi were managing construction work at Jagannade Square in Nandanvan. On Tuesday, Bagde saw the girls, all aged 15, working at the construction site and suspected that they were minors. She immediately informed the police control room, after which Nandanvan police rushed to the spot. Senior PI Vinayak Koli said they rescued the girls and produced them in front of the CWC.
Meanwhile, the contractor fled the spot after seeing the police. The CWC sent the girls to govt home and is contacting their parents.
