India wicketkeeper KL Rahul revealed his troublesome time with the Luckhnow Super Giants as he decides to move further in the upcoming IPL mega auction. Rahul spent three seasons as a captain in LSG and was released by the owners.
The talks have been going on since last season when a video went viral from the LSG dugout showing franchise owner Sanjiv Goenka publicly scolding Rahul following a 10-wicket loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Talking about the whole fiasco, Rahul said, "I most enjoyed playing at RCB. It’s home. You get to spend a lot of time at home. I know the Chinnaswamy well, I have grown up playing there. So, yeah, I enjoyed playing at RCB".
"Of course (Would you like to be back at RCB?) Bengaluru is home. People there know me as a local Kannada boy. Would be nice to go back there and get an opportunity. But, yeah, it’s an auction year, you can go anywhere," he said.
“The pressure is already high in the IPL. You see teams like Gujarat and CSK and all of these teams and you see even when they win or lose, they seem balanced, the dressing room is calm and that’s something very important to me as a player. If that happens, it gives all the players the best chance to perform. We tried that at LSG with Andy Flower and GG (Gautam Gambhir) first and then last year we had Justin Langer. We tried to create that in the changing room and I think it was a brilliant atmosphere in the changing room but sometimes you need to move away and find something good for yourself,” he added.
The mega auction ahead will be held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. This is the second successive year the auction is being held overseas as Dubai hosted the previous one ahead of the IPL 2024.
A total of 1,574 cricketers (1,165 Indian and 409 overseas) have been signed up for the auction, The list includes 320 capped players, 1,224 uncapped players and 30 players from the Associate Nations.
