Ky. high school coach charged with sex offenses involving students
An Estill County High School assistant girls soccer coach has been charged with rape after police said he had inappropriate relationships with at least two students.
Samuel Dustin Beeler, 22, of Irvine, faces two counts of third-degree rape and two counts of procuring or promoting the use of a minor by electronic means, according to Kentucky State Police.
A police citation said Kentucky State Police officials received a call on November 6 from Estill County School about allegations involving Beeler and two underage girls.
Beeler is accused of sending a 16-year-old girl inappropriate messages on the social media platform Snapchat, and of having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old.
Evidence was obtained to corroborate the accusations, according to the citation. Beeler admitted to having sex twice with a 17-year-old student and asking her to hang out via the social media platform Snapchat, the citation said.
He denied sending inappropriate Snapchat messages to the 16-year-old, according to the citation.
Court documents said Beeler has been released on a $20,000 cash bond as long as he has no contact with the alleged victims, stays away from school grounds and meets other conditions.
The citation said Beeler was also a head track and field coach.
In a social media post, the district said it received an anonymous tip about Beeler’s conduct last week and passed it along to law enforcement.
Beeler was arrested this week and is being held at Three Forks Regional Jail in Lee County.
“While the investigation was ongoing, the District took steps to ensure the employee would not have any further contact with students,” the district said in a social media post. ““The District can now proceed with termination of employment and will continue cooperating with law enforcement and the prosecutor’s office. As always, our first priority is the safety and well-being of our students.”
Beeler is listed on the KHSAA website as an assistant girl’s soccer coach at Estill County High School and the track and field coach for boys and girls.
