Thiruvananthapuram: General education department appointed a three-member committee to investigate and submit a report on the attempt to disrupt the closing ceremony of Kerala School Sports Meet '24. They will also seek explanations from two schools, which allegedly triggered the disruption despite assurances to address their grievances.
The decision to entrust the probe to a three-member committee was taken in a meeting chaired by minister V Sivankutty. The minister on Tuesday warned of strict action against those who created problems at the festival's closing ceremony. The probe committee comprises additional secretary of general education department MI Meenambika, joint secretary Biju Kumar BT and SCERT director Dr Jayaprakash RK. The committee has been asked to submit its report within two weeks.
It was also decided to seek explanations from the schools — Navamukunda, Thirunavaya, and Mar Basil, Kothamangalam. As a dispute arose regarding selection of the best school at the festival amidst competition between sports schools and general schools, a committee of experts in the sports field will be appointed to study the issue and prepare a proposal. The meeting decided to make revisions to the manual, if necessary, based on the expert committee's report.
