Food and grocery delivery major Swiggy is said to be in the process of launching a programme for a services marketplace dubbed “Yello”.

The feature, which is currently in the pilot stage will help users connect with professionals such as lawyers, therapists, fitness trainers, astrologers, and dieticians, according to a report by The Economic Times.

“Swiggy has been reaching out to professionals and will soon roll out the pilot in select locations, said one of the persons cited above,” it added.

The company’s shares rose 2.5% in their trading debut on Wednesday, after its $1.4 billion IPO last week, but pared initial gains on concerns about its path to profitability.

After listing the IPO, Sriharsha Majety, MD & Group CEO, Swiggy, said "Yello is still a pilot, will talk about it more later".

ET added in its report that Swiggy is “yet to decide” if the service will be available on the Swiggy app or will be a separate app altogether.

Additionally, the firm is also reportedly testing a premium membership service called the “Rare Club” designed to offer high-end users exclusive access to events like Formula 1 races, music concerts, upscale art exhibitions, along with VIP hospitality and priority reservations at luxury restaurants.

According to The Arc Web, the annual fee for the membership starts at Rs 50,000.

Its rival Zomato is also trying out a concierge-style service that lets users place food orders through WhatsApp. Unlike its usual chatbot-based support, human customer service agents will manage these orders, ET added. The company is reportedly hiring specifically for these roles.

Zomato's grocery delivery platform Blinkit, on the other hand, is gearing up to launch a handyman service platform offering plumbers, electricians, and carpenters, putting it in direct competition with Urban Company.

Last March, Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal left Urban Company's board to avoid a conflict of interest.
