Patna: Two persons died, while seven others sustained injuries in separate road accidents in Patna's Fatuha and Barh area on Wednesday.
In Barh, an out-of-control truck collided with an e-rickshaw carrying five passengers on NH-31 near Achuara village. The e-rickshaw driver died on the spot, while three women and two children suffered injuries in the accident. The e-rickshaw was travelling from Barh to Athmalgola when it collided with the truck coming from opposite direction. However, the truck driver escaped with his vehicle after the collision.
The deceased was identified as Anil Sao (52) from Doma village under Salimpur police station. Barh sub-inspector Rajesh Kumar confirmed that the deceased's family had been notified. "The body was brought to the sub-divisional hospital, Barh, for post-mortem. The police are examining the CCTV footage of the nearby areas to identify the truck driver," he said.
In another incident in Fatuha, Rohit Raj (26) lost his life when his motorcycle struck a pedestrian on Patna-Bakhtiyarpur state highway. The accident occurred as he was returning after participating in the Lord Bhaskar's idol immersion. He lost his balance over his motorcycle hit a person.
Residents alerted the police, and both were taken to the community health centre. The injured person, Anuj Kumar, was referred to Patna for better treatment, whilst Rohit succumbed to his injuries.
Fatuha SHO Rupak Kumar Ambuj said that police rushed the spot soon after being informed and started investigation. "The victim's body was sent to a hospital for post-mortem. The other youth is injured and he is undergoing treatment at NMCH. Further action is being taken as per the law," he said.
