Chandigarh: The only and simplest way to control crime in the state is to work in a planned manner to prevent it before it occurs, Haryana DGP Shatrujeet Kapur told the police officers on Tuesday.
The preparation of the Haryana Police regarding prevention should be top-class, he said. For this, the officers should go out in the field and brief the force on how to deal with criminals. The policemen should take strict action against criminals while having sympathy towards common people, he added.
Kapur was interacting with the officers while presiding over a meeting at the Police Headquarters. Many important topics, including crime control and the prompt resolution of public problems, were discussed during the meeting, said a police spokesperson. The SPs from across the state also participated in the meeting via video conferencing.
The DGP also said the officers should convey the message that strict action should be taken against criminals. If a criminal is caught committing a crime, he should be taught a lesson, and if he is absconding after the crime, he should be arrested as soon as possible, said Kapur.
Individuals with criminal tendencies should be monitored – when, where, and what they are doing, to ensure they do not commit crimes again, said the DGP. The new law includes provisions to attach the property of criminals as well, so officers should take action against them as per the rules, he added.
