Patna: Two people lost their lives, while three others were injured in a head-on collision between two bikes in Nawada district on Wednesday.
One of the seriously injured persons was referred from Nawada Sadar Hospital to Vardhman Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS), a govt medical college at Pawapuri in Nalanda district. Two people were riding a bike while three others were on another motorcycle, police said.
The deceased were identified as Shiv Shankar Prasad (55), a native of Rukhi village under Roh police station area, and Ravindra Yadav (48), a resident of Vishanpur village under Pakribarawan police station area of Nawada. The accident occurred near Sheikhpura More in the Town police station area of Nawada district.
"The local residents, who witnessed the accident, said the impact of the collision was so severe that both the bikes were badly damaged. Three riders were also severely injured," said Town SHO, Avinash Kumar.
The SHO said Arvind Kumar, a native of Vishanpur village, who was seriously injured in the accident, was referred from Nawada Sadar Hospital to VIMS. Meanwhile, Golu Kumar from Godihari village in Roh police station area and Shankar Yadav from Avnaya village in Govindpur police station area are receiving treatment at a private hospital in Nawada, he said.
"Shiv Shankar's daughter's wedding is to be held in January next year. He met her would-be in-laws on Tuesday. He was going from Rukhi village to Roh Bazar to purchase some wedding-related goods. Arvind, who was grievously injured, was riding another bike. They were coming from Roh Bazar side to Rukhi village," added the SHO.
