Chennai: The acerbic exchanges between chief minister M K Stalin and opposition leader Edappadi K Palaniswami continued on Tuesday when Stalin said the AIADMK general secretary was talking like one of the "uncultured politicians".
In a letter to his party cadres, Stalin said, "I am pained that the leader of the opposition is speaking like leaders of some political parties whose policy is to speak indecently, without any civility, and that I have to indulge in debates with such a person in the state assembly. Now I don't care about those who spew malice."
Stalin announced that he will tour Ariyalur and Perambalur on Nov 14 and 15 to inspect the ongoing govt schemes and to announce new projects.
Following his visit to Coimbatore, Stalin visited Virudhunagar district and inspected the status of various govt projects, this will be the third in a series of field visits in three weeks.
During Stalin's Virudhunagar visit, Palaniswami had criticised the govt for naming several govt programmes after former chief minister M Karunanidhi, Stalin responded: "Palaniswami is unable to tolerate the projects and buildings in the name of Kalaignar, which are largely beneficial to the people. Kalaignar was a leader who dedicated more than 80 years of public life to the development of the Tamil language, Tamil race, and Tamil Nadu. To commemorate the centenary year of the five-time chief minister and the architect of modern Tamil Nadu, we set up a superspecialty hospital in Chennai, a mega library and a jallikattu arena in Madurai."
DMK govt never failed to appreciate leaders who worked for the welfare of the people, chief minister Stalin said, pointing out that Amma canteens started during the AIADMK regime are being run better than earlier.
