Nagpur: The Nagpur division of Central Railway completed the electrification of Ajni and Nagpur pit lines for testing of the Vande Bharat train.
The completed electrification project represents a significant advancement in railway infrastructure development. The newly electrified facilities at Ajni and Nagpur will serve as essential maintenance hubs for Vande Bharat trains, ensuring their optimal performance and reliability.
Three Vande Bharat trains from Nagpur operate to Bilaspur, Indore, and Secunderabad. The pit lines are equipped with modern electrical systems that comply with safety standards and operational requirements. These facilities now feature overhead electrical equipment, advanced diagnostic tools, and specialised maintenance infrastructure designed specifically for Vande Bharat trains.
The electrification project included the installation of power supply systems, safety mechanisms, and monitoring equipment. Regular maintenance checks and safety inspections will be conducted to ensure smooth operations. The upgraded facilities will support routine cleaning, technical inspections, and necessary repairs of the train sets.
"This development aligns with the railways' vision of modernising its infrastructure across the network. The electrified pit lines will reduce maintenance time and improve operational efficiency. Staff training programmes have been implemented to familiarise maintenance teams with the new electrical systems and safety protocols," said Aman Mittal, SrDCM.
Local railway officials have confirmed that the facilities are now fully operational and ready to support Vande Bharat train maintenance activities. The project completion marks a significant step forward in enhancing railway infrastructure in the division.
