Noida: A 32-year-old woman and her six-year-old daughter died after a speeding car knocked them down in Dadri, Greater Noida on Monday evening.
Police received information around 6.30pm about an accident where two people, including a child, had been injured near the Dadri bypass. A team from Dadri police station rushed to the spot and brought the mother-daughter duo to a nearby hospital, where they were declared dead on arrival, police said.
According to a senior police officer, the deceased were identified as Aarti and her daughter Arohi. Aarti's husband Sukhram was also present at the time of the incident. Aarti and Sukhram, residents of Badhpura village, worked as daily wage workers in the area. Their daughter would often accompany them to work.
"Investingation revealed that the couple and their daughter were heading home after the couple was done with work along with a few other people. Aarti and Arohi were walking about 50m to 60m ahead of Sukhram. While trying to cross the road, Arohi walked forward and her mother rushed after her when they were knocked down by an unidentified vehicle. The husband couldn't see the vehicle and responded when he heard a loud cry," A senior police officer said
Police said that the bodies have been handed over to the family members and no complaint has been received in the matter so far.
"No camera has captured the incident. We are checking the CCTV footage from the nearby cameras to gather details about the car and driver. Further investigation is underway," the officer added.
