Abilene man dies in crash in Coleman County
An Abilene man has died from a one-vehicle crash in Coleman County.
Mark Craig Niblett Jr., 36, was pronounced dead on the scene by Justice of the Peace Vicki Kemp, according to a Texas Department of Public Safety media release.
The crash occurred on Friday in the early evening on County Road 128 in Coleman County.
The DPS investigated and determined the driver was traveling east on the county road in a 2013 Mazda passenger car. The driver was traveling at an unsafe speed for the road conditions while navigating a curve.
As a result, the driver lost control, slid off the road and overturned the vehicle onto its roof, DPS said in the media release.
The county road conditions were sand, mud and dirt, and the driver was not wearing a seatbelt, according to the report.
Texas Highway Patrol Trooper John P. Moody of Brownwood investigated the fatality. He was assisted by a THP commercial vehicle enforcement officer from Brownwood and two deputies from the Coleman County Sheriff's Office.
