Luxembourgish-American guitarist Greg Lamy was in India recently for his first-ever performance. With his new compositions, Greg along with Gautier Laurent (on bass) and Jean-Marc Robin, (on drums) gave three performances in the city and introduced his music to Delhiites. The performance at the Piano Man, organised by the Embassy of Luxembourg, by the Greg Lamy Trio, was a packed performance which was attended by diplomats and jazz enthusiasts in the city. Talking to us about his second visit to India, Greg shared, "My first visit here was 25 years ago and I never thought I'd be coming back to India for my music. It is like a dream coming true and I am happy to be presenting my music to the people here."

The performance included a lot of music that Greg has composed in the last few months. "I was quite excited to see how people would react. My inspiration can come from other musicians, experiences so it depends on various factors," added Greg, who hoped that his music is 'easy listening' to the contrary opinion that jazz is not for everybody. "I know that jazz is sometimes projected like intellectual music but I think the music that we try to do is to be able to reach a large population of listeners," he said.

Talking about the exchange with Indian musicians, Greg hoped that he would come back to the country soon. "It is a country with a lot of energy - positive and young energy - and you don't see that everywhere. I certainly wish to come back."
