Nagpur: Raisoni Foundation hosted a children's song programme ‘Ya Chimanyanno' and children's play ‘Zipru' at Riaan Tower auditorium recently. ‘Ya Chimanyanno' was produced by Shekhar Naik Productions of Pune while ‘Zipru' is based on the novel ‘Zipru' by Dr Sangeeta Barve. Some prominent personalities from Nagpur attended the event and praised the young performers.
The adaptation, set design, and direction of ‘Zipru' were done by Shekhar Naik, with music composed by Uday Ramdas and costumes by Gayatri Chakradev. Young artists Sharva Date, Shreya Joshi, Shruti Joshi, Sanmitra Joshi, Ved Purohit, Kiyan Borkar, Atharva Bagdi, Ishwari Jadhav, and Hridaya Datar won the hearts of the audience.
The story revolves around Zipru, a bear caught from the forest and brought into a circus, after its parents were killed by the circus owner. Julie, a circus performer, helps free the bear from the circus with the help of village children. The play highlights that animals, too, have emotions and feelings just like humans, conveying this message through the bear's hardships.
The children's songs presented in ‘Ya Chimanyanno' took many viewers down memory lane. Attendees noted that this was the first performance of its kind in Nagpur. Dr Mrunal Naik of the Raisoni Foundation and actress Vaidehi were present for the occasion. Director Shekhar Naik expressed gratitude to the organisers.
