Bengaluru: The eighth edition of the annual Kadlekai Parishe (groundnut fair) at Malleswaram's Kadu Malleshwara Temple is set to return this weekend with over 400 stalls dedicated to farmers and street vendors from across Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Former Union minister Veerappa Moily will inaugurate the event Friday, 4.30pm. Scheduled to be held till Nov 18, the fair promises to be a vibrant showcase of local produce, culture and community spirit.
Anticipated to attract more than 8 lakh visitors, the parishe has generated excitement among Malleswaram residents, many of whom consider it a cherished tradition. "Kadlekai Parishe was part of my childhood, and it's wonderful to see it growing each year," said Anjali Rao, a long-time resident.
In addition to groundnut sales, this year's festival will prioritise cleanliness and sustainability, offering a plastic-free experience with cloth bags and paper covers available at stalls. There will also be cultural programmes in the evening.
