Chennai: Park Town station resumed operations on Monday, bringing much-needed relief to MRTS passengers travelling on Beach-Velachery route. A key transit point, Park Town connects commuters heading to Chennai Central and those switching to the Beach–Egmore suburban line. Typically, MRTS passengers exit at Park Town and walk to the nearby Park station on the Egmore line.
The station was closed last year for redevelopment and new railway line work on the Chintadripet–Beach section. Though MRTS restored services, Park Town station remained shut due to pending construction.
Even after reopening, commuters faced issues. Some complained about the station's narrow pedestrian walkway, while others noted its absence on the official UTS app, complicating suburban ticket bookings.
Commuters have urged railways to widen the pedestrian bridge connecting Park Town with Park station.tnn
