Gurgaon: A 32-year-old woman, a homemaker, and her two children were found dead at their house in Badarpur Said village of Faridabad on Sunday. Police said they suspect Rajni strangled her children, a girl and a boy, before dying by suicide.
Rajni's was found hanging from a ceiling fan. Three-year-old Rudr's body was on the bed, and Ankita (5) was lying on the floor next to the bed, inspector Naresh Kumar of Bhupani police station said on Monday. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examinations. A case has not been registered so far.
Cops said the family belonged to Bihar's Lakhisarai and had moved to Faridabad a few years ago to earn a living. They lived in a 1BHK rented house. Rajni's husband Rahul was the sole bread-earner of the family and worked as a delivery executive for a private courier agency.
Rahul told police he went to work around 9am on Sunday. "When I left home, everything was normal. The kids were playing, and Rajni was busy with household work. I returned around 11am and found that the main door was latched from inside. I knocked on it a few times, asking Rajni to open it. As there was no response for a long time, I sought help from neighbours and alerted police," Rahul said. A police team broke the latch to enter the house and found the bodies.
"A forensics team was called to the spot. They collected evidence and the bodies were shifted to the Civil Hospital for autopsies. We are waiting for Rajni's parents to come from Bihar. Based on their statement and the autopsy reports, we will proceed with further investigation. So far, no case has been registered," the inspector said.
A senior police officer told TOI Rajni used to complain that Rahul didn't spend enough time at home and was only focused on work.
"The only door into the house was latched from inside when police arrived. We suspect that the woman may have strangled the children before hanging herself," he said.
Faridabad police spokesperson Yashpal said Rahul and Rajni got married seven years ago. "The autopsy will be conducted on Monday once her parents arrive. There was no suicide note, and the cause of death will be clear only after the autopsy report comes out," the spokesperson added.
