Rajkot: A 38-year-old transport manager, Prakash Jogiya, lodged a complaint at Gandhigram Police Station reporting a theft of Rs 8.39 lakh from his transport company's safe near Madhapar Chowkdi in Rajkot during the overnight hours between Nov 11 and Nov 12.
Jogiya, who has served as the manager at Jay Murlidhar transport company for six years, stated in the complaint that on Nov 11, he departed from the office at 8pm after completing his duties. Later that night, at approximately 11:30pm, the office supervisor, Deep, secured the main shutter and documented the locked premises by sharing a photograph in their WhatsApp group. The company handles Amazon's parcels and operates from its Madhapar Chowkdi location.
The theft was discovered the following morning when an Amazon representative, Jitubhai contacted Jogiya regarding the missing money, which were meant for bank collection. Upon inspection, it was found that the safe was not damaged. The safe's security system requires both a key, typically stored at the office counter, and a password for access.
Police officials said that there is a possibility of an inside job.
