Patna: NTPC has awarded project worth over Rs 29,000 crore to infrastructure major L&T, for the construction of first unit at Nabinagar Superthermal Power Station in Aurangabad district. The first unit will be required to be completed within 36 months.
The project was awarded in October following the bidding process, which was initiated between June and July.
"The NTPC initiated the bidding process in June and July and the L&T was awarded the project in October," said Vishwanath Chandan of NTPC. He further said the units of 800MW each would be based on ultra supercritical technology, which would be for the first time in Bihar, as till now only 660MW units were based on the said technology.
"The expansion will add an additional capacity of 2,400 MW under stage-2 of the project that will be a crucial step in fulfilling state's energy needs and ultimately a step forward in becoming energy efficient country along with maintaining sustainable environment," added Chandan.
He said the NTPC is shifting its focus towards renewable energy in order to produce cleaner and sustainable energy.
