Prayagraj: With focus on completing key infrastructure projects ahead of Maha Kumbh, the work on the steel bridge over the river Ganga at Phaphamau is progressing rapidly.
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has set target to complete 450-metre-long bridge by Dec 10. Construction is going on round the clock to meet the deadline, ensuring that the bridge will be ready well before mega religious event.
The bridge is expected to play a crucial role in managing massive influx of devotees during the Maha Kumbh, further enhancing the infrastructure for smooth transportation in the region.
The four-kilometre-long approach road for bridge has been completed and finishing touches will be done by Dec 15.
While a new six-lane bridge is being built at Phaphamau, it won't be ready before the Maha Kumbh. In view of this, the state govt decided to construct a temporary steel bridge ahead of the event to ensure smooth transportation for the devotees.
