Lucknow: UP Police has partnered with the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad (IIIT-A) to enhance wireless communication systems across Maha Kumbh Mela area.
Additional DG, telecom, Sanjay Tarade who signed the MoU with director of IIIT-A, Mukul Satawane, said that this collaboration aims to implement advanced, authenticated technology to ensure secure and uninterrupted communication, especially in shadow areas where traditional mobile networks are ineffective due to high footfall and obstructed signals.
The move has been initiated on the directions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, said Tarade.
"To facilitate seamless operations, the IIIT-A will conduct a comprehensive network study identifying weak spots, enabling strategic setup of wireless instruments to strengthen connectivity. The deployed systems will assist in monitoring crowd control, maintaining law and order, and enhancing public protection," he said.
ADG added that the institute will also guide the telecom department personnel on how to better handle the equipment and use the latest technology in enhancing the overall response system of the telecommunication wing.
The wireless network will cover a substantial 4,000-hectare area, with around 1,250 technical staff and 18 control grids in place which will be monitored round-the-clock.
Over 1,500 static handsets and 2,500 handle communication devices will be deployed for both static stations and mobile units, the ADG said.
The MoU will help to establish a robust communication green corridor, validate VHF communication installations, and conduct a comprehensive survey of the VHF network to identify and address black spots in communication.
