Aurangabad: In a bizarre incident, a minor girl died by suicide by hanging herself live on a video call in the district on November 8, police said. The incident came to light on November 9.
The police arrested a minor boy in this regard on Monday.
DSP, police headquarters-II, Amit Kumar said, on November 9 body of a 17-year-old girl was found in her house. "Initially, there was a suspicion of death due to strangulation, but later probe by special investigation team, led by probationer DSP Manisha Kumari, revealed that the girl committed suicide on a live video call after she had a quarrel with her boyfriend on the phone," he said.
The police on Monday arrested the minor boy.
The DSP said on Monday that the investigation revealed that the girl was having an affair with a boy of a nearby village. On November 8 night, both the girl and her boyfriend were connected through a video call. During this, some dispute occurred between the two, and in a fit raged, she committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan, he said.
The DSP said her boyfriend was watching the entire incident live. He rushed to the girl's house, brought down the body, and laid it on the bed. When a neighbour saw him doing this, he ran away but he left his slippers, the DSP said.
The police have arrested the boy on the charge of abetting suicide. The cellphone used in the video call, the clothes the boy wore on the day of the incident and his slippers have also been recovered.
