Jaipur: Chomu police on Sunday rescued a 21-year-old woman who was held hostage inside a farmhouse by a man. SHO (Chomu) Pradeep Sharma told TOI that the woman worked in an event management firm. She went to the farmhouse to organise an event and was staying there in a room when its caretaker began to break the door.
She got scared as the accused said he intended to come inside. She was frightened as the locks of the door began to break open and rushed to the door where she locked herself and called her brother to help her.
"Her brother called the control room, and it was alerted to us. Our teams fanned out based on the mobile location details," Sharma said, adding that while the jurisdiction came under the Samod police station of Jaipur (Rural) district, the Chomu police began searching for the girl around the highways.
"We finally found the guest house where the woman was hiding herself. We rescued her from there, but the accused fled when he heard police sirens," said Sharma.
The police said that the woman was petrified even after the rescue and stated that the accused intended to force himself on her, which made her even more scared.
"We have recorded the girl's statements and launched a manhunt for the accused," Sharma said, adding that the police assured the girl of all help.
The police have also begun to seek details of the farmhouse's caretaker.
