Nagpur: As the last lap of campaigning kicks off from Monday, the final week of public rallies in Vidarbha will see political superstars hitting the road to campaign for their candidates. Party cadres say getting the big guns on the ground helps to boost morale and, with the right political messaging, may even sway the fence-sitter voters.
For BJP, their biggest star campaigner, PM Narendra Modi, will address a rally in Chimur on November 12. Union minister Amit Shah is scheduled to address six rallies in Vidarbha, including two in Nagpur district. Shah will be in Vidarbha on November 15 and 17, during which he will cover Yavatmal, Chandrapur, Wardha, Gadchiroli, and Nagpur districts. On Sunday, Shah held rallies in Buldhana and Amravati districts.
UP CM Yogi Adityanath is also on top of the ‘demand' list by candidates and has already held rallies in various Vidarbha constituencies. Now he will be back on November 12 to address a blitzkrieg of six rallies. In a jam-packed day for him, Yogi will cover Yavatmal, Amravati, Akola, and Nagpur districts in a single day. This will include two rallies in the city, at Nagpur Central and Nagpur West.
For Congress too, November 12 will be a big day as their star campaigner and leader of opposition Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to hold rallies in Chikli (Buldhana) and Gondia, according to Congress sources.
A senior Congress leader said that Gandhi might return on November 15 or 16 for a rally in Chimur.
Similarly, Priyanka Gandhi is set to hold a rally in Gadchiroli. "We are in the process of finalising the dates," said a Congress legislator, adding, "We have also asked for a road show in Nagpur, which is to be led by Priyankaji."
