Vadodara: A major breach in a drain occurred under the service road of the Harinagar flyover after the flood in the city. It was repaired a month ago, but the road is yet to be repaired and opened to traffic.
The service road is used extensively by commuters headed to Rajesh Tower Road or Iskcon Temple Road. It was closed to traffic as a large portion was dug up for repairs on the pipeline. VMC officials said major work was required which took a long time to be completed.
Several days after the work was complete, the road is yet to be repaired and opened to traffic. Commuters use the service road on the other side of the flyover to avoid taking a much longer route.
AAP member and former councillor Viren alias Pintal Rami raised the issue with the civic body. Rami said VMC officials were claiming they were experiencing a shortage of workers and due to a series of VIP visits, work could not be started. "They assured us that it will be done in a day or two," he added.
