Govt Takes A Stand On Data Privacy: Restricts The Unauthorized Use Of Pan Card Details

good initiatives. but a decade late.
Honestly it mean nothing, no one gives a horse shit about pan card when they have adhdar card - where they have your entire family tree profiled, and all bank details of entire family tree is linked.
who need PAN when anyone can get these detail just using your mobile number.

I didn't know it was so bad already. I'm glad I have kept mine and my family accounts unlinked despite state pressure to do so.

If you mean pan and aadhar is unlinked, isn't there fine against that ? Won't your pan card eventually get disabled ? Won't that effect your cibil score, etc. ?

yes not only penalty but punishment as well, PAN card is rendered useless if not linked with adhar. And one can't file tax returns as well.

All video KYCs still only use PAN, so there is some use yet. But PAN number in itself is a privacy breach as it is sequential and you can check anyone else's name by changing it.

But the phone number becoming more of an identity tool definitely irks me more.

No not linking PAN wasn't an option after 2018-19 if I remember right. Its just that nothing else is linked (no phone, no bank accounts etc).
