Patna: Burglars targeted five flats of an apartment located on Gola Road in Danapur and escaped with valuables worth lakhs of rupees.
The incident came to light late on Saturday night when the occupants returned to their homes after Diwali and Chhath. On receiving information, the police reached the place and started an investigation by scanning the CCTV footage to identify the burglars.
SDPO-I of Danapur, Bhanu Pratap Singh, said the incidents took place in an apartment in Janakpuri locality (lane no. 3) under Rupaspur police station area. "The burglars escaped with valuables worth over Rs 20lakh and a licensed pistol of a retired Border Security Force jawan. Fingerprint experts and forensic teams have been called to collect evidence from the spot. Besides, the police are gathering technical evidence," he said.
One of the victims, Amit Kumar Mishra, retired BSF jawan, said when he reached his flat, he found that the main lock of the door was broken and household articles were scattered on the floor. His valuables, licensed pistol, and two cartridges were stolen by the thieves.
The other victims—Subodh Kumar Pandey, Tushar Raj, Dhiraj Kumar and Chandrama Devi—have submitted their written complaints to the local police station about the burglary.
SHO of Rupaspur police station, Ranvijay Kumar, said police have scanned the CCTV footage of the nearby areas to identify the miscreants and saw four dubious people near the apartment. "They broke the locks of the flats and decamped with valuables. The police are conducting raids to arrest them," he said.
He added: "Some of the occupants went to their native place ahead of Diwali while some before Chhath Puja. They informed the police about the burglary late on Saturday night."
