Chatra: Independent candidate Ashok Gahlot's election campaign in Chatra was unexpectedly interrupted on Sunday morning after he received the news of his mother's death. Anita Devi, 65, succumbed to cardiac arrest at their residence in Hazaribag after battling prolonged illness. The last rites were performed at Hazaribag's Muktidham.
The news reached Gahlot while he was conducting a door-to-door campaign, distributing pamphlets to voters across Chatra town.
According to a close aide, while Gahlot attends to family matters, his support team will continue the campaign activities in his absence. "Our leader will return soon, but meanwhile, we will ensure the campaign momentum continues," the aide stated.
The former Ajsu-P leader is expected to resume his electoral activities shortly after completing the funeral rites.
