Guwahati: The properties of a Congress worker were damaged during pre-poll violence in Samaguri assembly constituency on Saturday. No casualties were reported, an official said.
Additional SP (Nagaon) Pranab Kalita said miscreants broke into Congress worker Osman Ali’s house and vandalised his properties, They damaged four vehicles, two of Ali’s personal vehicles and two hired for election purposes, he added.
Meanwhile, Union minister for ports, shipping and waterways Sarbanda Sonowal took part in an election campaign for the BJP candidate contesting the Samaguri byelection. Sonowal participated in a padayatra from Aambagan to Kawaimari under Singimari in the morning. He addressed a gathering at Singimari urging people to vote for “politics of empowerment” and not “politics of appeasement.
