Gorakhpur: In a bid to position Gorakhpur Industrial Development Authority (GIDA) as a top-tier industrial hub, Yogi govt has committed to give it a substantial infrastructure boost, on the lines of development in Noida. Under the initiative, an additional Rs 7.75 crore will be dedicated to improving road connectivity in Phase 1 and 2 of Sector 22, Transport Nagar, to bolster commercial and industrial activities, said Anuj Malik, GIDA CEO.
Since 2017, under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, GIDA transformed from a neglected area with poor infrastructure and law-and-order issues into a thriving investment destination, where a growing network of industries is now taking root.
Following the successful Global Investor Summit (GIS) in 2023, investment proposals worth nearly Rs 2,800 crore were already implemented in GIDA. Govt's vision to develop GIDA on par with Noida gained momentum, with strong assurances provided to entrepreneurs on security, investment-friendly policies, and improved infrastructure, the CEO said.
As part of the commercial development plan, GIDA administration recently issued tenders for construction and repair of roads in Sector 22, with Rs 4.25 crore allocated to Phase 1 and Rs 3.59 crore for Phase 2. These projects are set to be completed within nine months, further strengthening GIDA's connectivity and appeal as an industrial hotspot, she said.
