Rohtak: In a late-night encounter between police and a murder suspect, an officer escaped injury as a bullet fired by the suspect hit his bulletproof vest. The suspect sustained a gunshot wound to the leg.
The incident occurred on the Kalanaur-Basana road, when police moved in to arrest Surendra Lohari, a resident of Moth-Lohari village in Hisar district who is wanted for a recent murder. Cornered, Lohari opened fire, leading the officers to fire in self-defence, resulting in Lohari’s injury. Lohari is accused of the murder of Pradeep Tomar, a resident of Gudhan village in Rohtak.
Tomar's body was found on Nov 2 near the Kalanaur-Mokhra railway line, showing signs of a violent struggle.
