Lucknow: In the case of a woman's fatal fall from the tenth floor of an apartment in the PGI area, police arrested her husband on charges of abetment to suicide on Friday. The charge was revised from murder to abetment to suicide based on the investigation, said the police.
The deceased, Preeti Dwivedi, 42, daughter of retired additional district judge SP Tiwari, lived in Aravali Enclave Apartments in Vrindavan Yojna, PGI area, with her husband Ravindra Kumar Dwivedi, a law officer with a govt bank and their two sons.
On Wednesday evening, Preeti fell to her death from the tenth floor. Following this, her father, SP Tiwari, filed a report accusing Ravindra of pushing her to her death.
Additional DCP, East Zone, Pankaj Singh, said that initially, police registered a murder case and reviewed CCTV footage from the apartment. The footage revealed Preeti was alone, taking the lift to the tenth floor and later seen heading towards the stairs.
Inspector Ravi Shankar Tripathi of PGI station stated that after gathering evidence through investigation, the murder charge was altered to abetment to suicide, and Ravindra was subsequently sent to jail.
