Noida: Air quality has continued to remain in the "poor" category in Noida for the fourth consecutive day. In Ghaziabad, it was recorded at a "very poor" level.
Noida experienced a slight improvement in air quality compared to the previous day, with a reading of 271, down from 278. Greater Noida also remained in the "poor" category, with a reading of 286, a slight decrease from 288. However, Ghaziabad stayed in the "very poor" category, recording 315, a marginal improvement from 316 the day before.
Different areas within the cities showed varying pollution levels. In Noida, Sector 116 recorded a "very poor" reading of 335, while Sector 1 and Sector 125 fell into the "poor" category, with readings of 250 and 229, respectively. Data from the Sector 62 station was unavailable.
In Greater Noida, Knowledge Park III recorded a "very poor" reading of 316, while Knowledge Park V registered 255, placing it in the "poor" category. In Ghaziabad, the Loni area recorded the highest pollution level with a "very poor" reading of 397, followed by Vasundhara at 339, also in the "very poor" category. Two other stations in Ghaziabad, Vasundhara and Indirapuram, recorded readings of 273 and 251, respectively, both in the "poor" category.
Delhi's air quality deteriorated further and reached the upper level of the very poor category on Friday. The average air quality index, was 380, which was the third worst this season so far. On Nov 4 and 3, it had reached 382 and 381, respectively.
The Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM) provided insights into the meteorological factors influencing air quality. Winds in Delhi-NCR, with speeds between 4-8 kmph, were coming from variable directions. These wind patterns are expected to persist on Saturday, while Sunday is forecasted to see a slight increase in wind speeds to 4-10 kmph. The mixing height, a key factor in dispersing pollutants, was recorded at 1,750 meters on Friday and is projected to rise to 1,930 meters on Saturday.
