Ahmedabad: After a prolonged delay following the declaration of NEET-PG results, the admission process for postgraduate medical courses has finally been announced.
The National Medical Commission (NMC) set deadlines for the first round of admissions — Nov 20 for All-India quota seats and Nov 27 for state quota seats. Counselling sessions for state quota seats will begin on Nov 18. Students will have to complete their joining formalities by Dec 4. The academic session will commence on Dec 20.
The Junior Doctors' Association from Gujarat recently urged the Union govt to expedite admissions, considering the shortage of resident doctors in the state's hospitals.
Students who are allotted seats in the first round will have to confirm their admission by Dec 4.
The second-round schedule will begin from Dec 4 and conclude on Dec 12 for All-India quota and Dec 12 to Dec 23 for state quota — students will have to confirm their admission by Dec 28. The final round for All-India quota will conclude on Jan 1 and for state quota on Jan 13. The third-round admission confirmations must be completed by Jan 18.
