Nagpur: The Association for Industrial Development (AID), an organisation patronised by Union Minister for Road Transport and Nagpur MP Nitin Gadkari, plans to hold a roadshow in Bengaluru for the Mihan project in the coming days.
AID, which works to promote industrial growth in the region and offers suggestions to the govt in policy-making, was formed a year ago. It also held the Advantage Vidarbha event in Nagpur in January this year. There are plans to have another edition of Advantage Vidarbha in February next year.
Talking to TOI during an informal get-together, AID's president Ashish Kale said the plan is to promote Mihan in other centres. "AID would be working on bringing in global capacity centres (GCCs) at the Mihan-SEZ," he said.
"GCCs are the tech as well as research and development arms of companies. These days, even GCCs of mid-sized companies are setting up units in centres other than the regular cities that are the IT hubs. In that case, Nagpur can be projected as a suitable location," said Kale.
During the roadshow, Mihan will be projected as a suitable option for GCCs too. "The roadshow in Bengaluru has been planned after the Advantage Vidarbha event is held in February 2025," said Kale.
Kale said AID will also be working on creating awareness related to the state's logistics policy among the investors. The sector is expected to attract major investment, especially in light of the new policy.
The organisation had also taken up the issue of recarpeting of the runway at Nagpur airport. "The team had met the civil aviation minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu and AID was assured that the work will be completed by March," claimed Kale.
AID had also provided inputs to the state govt for framing its tourism policy, he said. Kale claimed that more than 90% of the inputs by AID were included in the policy. The most important was on the capital subsidy, which goes up to Rs20 crore and is Rs25 crore for a woman entrepreneur.
