Kanpur: Devotees offered Sandhya Arghya to the setting sun on the second day of Chhath festivity on Thursday evening.
The devotees, standing knee deep in water at various ghats and ponds, performed religious rituals and offered prayers to Lord Sun and Chhath Maiya, seeking blessings for their families.
While devotees perform the puja, their families accompany them at the ghats.
The festivity will conclude with Usha Arghya on Friday morning when devotees will offer Arghya to the rising sun while standing in water.
After this married women apply vermilion to each other. Traditional delicacy, Thekua, specially prepared on the festival is distributed as prasad.
