Hyderabad: BJP's Mahabubnagar MP DK Aruna on Thursday raised concerns regarding the statewide caste survey, claiming that the questionnaire focussed on personal assets, debts, land ownership and political affiliations.
Addressing party cadre at the state-level workshop for organisational elections, she said, "What is the necessity of such detailed personal and property information. We should have clarification on whether this initiative is genuinely a caste census or merely a broad family census."
Aruna said this survey may mislead backward communities and serve as a means to sidestep previous commitments made by the govt. She warned against any coercive collection of personal details. Aruna questioned why Congress, which governed united AP for close to six decades, did not undertake a caste census during its tenure.tnn
