Jamshedpur: East Singhbhum deputy commissioner and district electoral officer (DEO) Ananya Mittal has instructed political leaders, excluding local voters, party workers, star campaigners and rally organisers, to exit the constituency by 5 pm on November 11.
The DEO has announced that for the six assembly constituencies in East Singhbhum, where voting is scheduled for November 13, non-voters must vacate the constituency 48 hours before polling begins.
"In case any person, who is not the voter of the constituency, stays beyond the permissible period of time will face action under relevant sections of the law," the DEO stated on Friday.
The DEO referred to Election Commission of India (ECI) guidelines, stating that campaigning must cease within the constituency after the campaign period ends. According to the DEO, external political and campaign functionaries who are not constituency voters must leave the area after campaigning concludes to ensure a fair electoral environment.
Additionally, the DEO has prohibited political parties from conducting public meetings or rallies after the campaign period concludes. Citing section 126 of the Public Representation Act (PRA) of 1951, Mittal restricted political parties from distributing campaign materials through any communication channels, including theatre and television.
The stated political parties cannot organise musical events, street performances, or dramatic presentations aimed at voter influence. Subsequently, the DEO and SSP inspected the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) dispatch and receiving centre at Jamshedpur Cooperative College (JCC) and Lal Bahadur Shastri Memorial (LBSM).
During their visit, both officials thoroughly reviewed the election materials designated for poll personnel and enquired about transportation arrangements for voting staff to polling stations.
