Lucknow: Tourism and culture minister Jaiveer Singh on Friday said the state govt is making all efforts to promote Buddhist tourism and the Pali language in UP in a big way.
As part of it, the department of culture, in association with the International Buddhist Research Institute, Lucknow, is organising a three-day International Buddhist Conclave and Pali Literature Conference from Saturday.
Themed as ‘The Contribution of Pali Literature in Promoting World Peace and Harmony', the event is expected to see the participation of over 800 Buddhist monks, scholars and practitioners from across the country.
Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak will be the chief guest while MLC Govind Narayan Shukla guest of honour.
The delegates will delve into topics like Buddhist tourism, Pali language and literature, archaeology, Buddhist culture, ancient history and the Indian knowledge tradition.
The conference will include panel discussions, presentation of research papers and honouring of three distinguished monks.
In addition, there will be a Pali book fair, a Dhammapada recitation, calligraphy activities and release of new books.
It will serve as a platform for discussions and promotion of the ancient language and Buddhist heritage, strengthening ties between different cultures and countries.
