Bengaluru: The Karnataka high court Friday quashed proceedings against Manoj Mittal, deputy director, and Murali Kannan, assistant director of Directorate of Enforcement (ED), Bengaluru. The two were probing the multi-crore misappropriation and diversion of funds case allegedly pertaining to state-owned Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribes Development Corporation.
In July, B Kallesh, additional director of social welfare department, filed a complaint against the two officers with Ulsoor Gate police, alleging they threatened him during questioning and pressured him to give statements against bigwigs in the state govt, including the chief minister.
However, on Friday, counsel for Kallesh filed a memo stating he won't pursue the matter and will withdraw the complaint.
Additional solicitor general SV Raju, appearing for the petitioners, requested the court to quash proceedings in view of this development. He added that the offences alleged are compoundable as well as non-cognizable in nature.
