Noida: A 36-year-old woman died after she allegedly jumped off the 4th floor of Great India Place (GIP) Mall in Sector 38 on Wednesday night. Though no note was recovered on the body, cops have not ruled out a suicide as there were no signs of force or struggle at the spot.
A resident of Delhi's Karawal Nagar, Akansha Sood travelled nearly 26km to reach the mall on Wednesday evening. Once there, she apparently used the stairs, reserved for fire emergencies, to reach the top floor and jumped off the building, DCP (Noida) Ram Badan Singh said.
Her body was found around 9.30 pm by guards who then alerted cops on emergency helpline number 112. The body has been sent for autopsy. The reports are awaited.
Documents found on the body helped cops identify Sood. According to her family members, the woman was fighting an acrimonious divorce case for over seven years and would be upset about it.
"Sood was married to a Delhi-based man in 2017 but separated from him after a fortnight following a dispute. Her divorce case is still pending in court," an officer said.
