Lucknow: The state govt on Friday launched the second phase of timetable of the pre-matric (class IX and X) and post-matric (class XI and XII) scholarship schemes for OBC students for the 2024-25 financial year.
According to govt officials, this initiative aims to support OBC students by easing their financial burden and promoting their pursuit of higher education.
Minister of state (independent charge) for backward classes welfare and empowerment of persons with disabilities Narendra Kashyap said: "Through an online application process, the scheme provides timely financial assistance to ensure that OBC students can continue their studies without financial hindrance."
Director of backward classes welfare Vandana Verma said the application process is now fully digitised for enhanced transparency and efficient disbursement.
Students can apply via the official portal (https://scholarship.up.gov.in).
"All educational institutions must be registered in the master data by Dec 31, with fee verifications completed by universities, affiliating agencies and district school inspectors by Jan 5, 2025," said Verma.
She said applications for the pre and post matric scholarships can be submitted till Jan 15. Educational institutions are instructed to verify and forward these applications by Jan 18.
The govt has mandated that the scholarship amount be transferred directly to students' bank accounts through DBT. By Feb 25, all eligible students will receive their funds via the public financial management system (PFMS).
"The state govt is committed to advancing education for backward-class students, helping them financially and empowering them to become part of the mainstream. This programme is a key step toward making OBC students self-reliant and opening pathways to higher education. It aims to brighten the future of lakhs of students and further easing their educational journey," said Verma.
