Gorakhpur: A property dealer, Nihal Singh, was shot dead in broad daylight on Thursday while riding his bullet motorcycle near Jaddu Parsia petrol pump in Deoria. Three assailants approached him from behind on a bike and shot at his head. Nihal collapsed on the spot, after which the assailants fired two more shots before fleeing with guns raised. Passersby rushed him to Devraha Baba Autonomous State Medical College, where he was declared dead, police said. Barhaj circle officer Aditya Kumar said that FIR has been lodged against unidentified persons and teams have been formed for investigating the murder. The killing sparked outrage among locals, who began to gather at the scene.
However, officials arrived with additional force to calm the situation. Nihal Singh, 26, a resident of Samogar village in Madanpur, was the only son of his parents. His father, Vishwajeet Singh, works in Kuwait and had built a house in Munshif Colony, Deoria. tnn
